Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. One of her first Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford's next venture will be an exclusive Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It's also available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford has been seen most recently in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over an Century. She was in two seasons on the cult CBS comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
