Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul singer actor and songwriter. She is the recipient of many awards, like the Grammy Award a Children's and Family Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award along with nominations for an Academy Award. Andra Day, a gifted musician and singer with a background in gospel music and blues who has a flair for the contemporary world, is not just an R&B throwback master. The ability she has to mix the influences of jazz, gospel and the blues into the R&B style is quite impressive. Her first appearance was on television series like 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods before making her movie debut as Allyson Nelson, in the horror movie series Halloween as well as the sequels.
